Stop the Rebellion and Drug Trafficking!

In chapter 9 Colombia and drug trafficking is discussed and Pablo Escobar was the main person to look to.  Escobar was the first person who began smuggling drugs into the United States of America from Colombia.  Cocaine and marijuana was grown in Colombia and smuggling and selling the drugs over in the United States of America meant earning more profit from it.  They would earn more profit because the United States money is worth more than Colombia.  Drugs were very popular in the 1970s in Colombia and in Chicago.  In today’s society drugs are still popular and its the only way most people know how to make a living.  I live on the Southside of Chicago and have seen and heard a lot growing up here.  I have experienced a drive by, where people shoot at  loved ones just to send a message.  People in Chicago have also made the same decisions as guerrillas by watching carefully of those who profit the most money from drug trafficking.  Whoever made the most money got targeted to get robbed or murdered so that someone else can take over their money and empire if they was very high in status.  Guerrillas kidnapped family members of wealthy traffickers to get money out of them.  Kidnapping was a very effective strategy of receiving money from wealth drug traffickers.  No one wanted their family members to die so traffickers did whatever it took to make sure their loved ones stayed alive.  People still take the same actions today and a lot of times the news just classify the murders as “gang related.”  Just like Escobar a lot drug dealers are either imprisoned or killed in Chicago.  For instance, Larry Hoover (a drug kingpin) created the gang “Gangster Disciple.”  When he was busted by the government for murder he still made a way to make money inside of the Stateville prison and control the outside and inside world of the “Gangster Disciple.”  However, Hoover was not murdered, but he is now in a Maximum Security prison in Florence, Colorado. (http://www.biography.com/people/larry-hoover-536246#synopsis) I hear on the news almost everyday about someone being murdered or kidnapped and it being gang related.  People are so rebellious to the government's rules that they have not cared in a long time to make a change when it comes to violence. The most touching story I have ever heard is when a 6 month old baby Jonylah was murdered because gang members were after her father.  Her and her father was shot that day, but only he survived.  It was a sad time in Chicago that WEEK because everyone was in disbelief that gang members could be so cruel.  (http://abc7chicago.com/archive/9118247/)  The way that Escobar and Hoover’s operations were ruled in the 1970’s is similar to how it is run today.  The murders, money laundering, kidnapping, and imprisonment has not all change much since then.  The governments have been trying for decades to figure out how to minimize violence, but with the influence of people like Escobar and Hoover it will certainly be a challenge. Enough is enough!
